Physical Therapy

Whether you’re looking for relief from pain or working to maintain a healthy lifestyle, physical therapy can help you get to where you want to go. Physical therapy treats a wide range of conditions, disorders and injuries. Our goal is to work with you to help you achieve your personal goals.

Physical therapy involves the evaluation and treatment of physical disabilities.  It is designed to improve physical strength, range of motion, daily living  activities and functional ability.  Treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation, so our therapists can develop a personalized treatment program for you. Throughout your recovery, you will have a dedicated therapist who is focused on one goal: helping you reach your goals.

Treatments may include a variety of exercises and activities customized to your individual needs, including therapeutic procedures such as: manual therapy (hands-on mobilization of soft tissue), gait training and therapeutic exercise (range of motion, strengthening) and other treatments; and therapeutic modalities such as traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and other pain relieving modalities.

Sports Injury Rehabilitation

Whether you’re a weekend warrior who wants to prevent an injury (or treat a current one), a youth or high school student injured on the field, or a professional athlete who wants to improve your game, our sports rehabilitation program will help you reach your goals.

Sports injury rehabilitation focuses on treating injuries specific to you as an athlete and your sport, so you can return to compete as well – if not better – than before your injury. Our specialized therapists will conduct a thorough evaluation and create a customized rehabilitation program designed to help you reach your goals. In addition to treating an injury when one occurs, our therapists partner with you to teach you how to prevent injuries in the future.

And for those of you who want to go above and beyond your ability level, there are several programs designed to help improve your skill level and physical ability. Strengthen Your Game is a performance-enhancement program that targets specific sports – such as basketball, running, golf, football – to help athletes reach their highest potential. Our therapists will customize a sports performance enhancement program to meet your personal goals.

Reflexology

Tap into your body's natural healing ability by using pressure points on your hands or feet to relief symptoms of conditions such as back pain, migraines, arthritis, sleep disorders, injuries and stress.

What Is It?

Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.

The Benefits of Reflexology

• Relief from stress, anxiety and tension

• Feelings of relaxation

• Improved mood

• Improved sleep

• A general sense of health and well-being

Well trained reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Reflexology is a very individual treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person, taking into account both physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your wellbeing. Some people find it works for them - some don't. The best way to find out is to try it!

The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. Usually, after a treatment your tension may be reduced and you might feel relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of well being improving. You may also find that other aspects improve too; however, this happens on an individual basis.

With ever increasing levels of stress in everyday life, it is important for people to take more responsibility for their own healthcare needs. Reflexology may be one of the ways to mitigate the stresses of modern life.

What Happens During A Reflexology Treatment?

After a consultation to determine the best methods of treatment, a typical full reflexology session lasts for an hour. Usually it is just the feet that are worked on, although hands or ears can be incorporated or used alternatively. You remain fully clothed, simply removing your shoes and socks.

Your feet will be cleansed at the start of the session and them a variety of techniques will be used, adapted to suit your individual needs. Hands, fingers, knuckles and thumbs are used to apply pressure to the feet, lower leg, hands, ears or face, depending on the type of reflexology chosen. You may feel areas of temporary discomfort during the treatment, but generally the experience should be relaxing.

Can Everyone Enjoy A Reflexology Treatment?

This therapy is suitable for most adults, but there are certain conditions where reflexology should be avoided. To ensure the continued well being of all clients, every treatment begins with a consultation to make sure that reflexology is the right therapy. In some cases, your doctors permission may be required before a treatment can commence, for instance if you have diabetes. A confidential record card will be kept with relevant notes for future treatment. If you have any questions or would like to discuss if reflexology is suitable for you or a friend, please feelfree to call me.

Hand Therapy

Whether you want to get back to doing an activity you enjoy, like keeping up with your friends on a social network, or simply want to be able to get through the day without experiencing pain in your arm or hand, therapy program can help you reach your goals.

Hand therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper quarter of the human body. Hand therapy is a merging of occupational therapy and physical therapy theory and practice that combines comprehensive knowledge of the upper quarter, body function, and activity.

Using specialized skills in assessment and treatment, hand therapists promote the goals of prevention of dysfunction, restoration of function and/or reversal of the progression of pathology in order to enhance participation in life situations for individuals with upper quarter disease or injury.

Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Injury Rehabilitation

If pain from an acute injury or a chronic condition is standing in the way of reaching your goals, orthopedic and musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation can help you move forward to achieve them.

Orthopedic and musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation focuses on treating diagnoses specific to the supporting structures of your body. Some of the common conditions it can help treat include: post operative care, acute injuries and trauma, total joint replacement, chronic diseases and conditions, arthritis and other degenerative joint conditions.

By focusing on specific areas of your musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles, ligaments,  tendons, cartilage, spine and joints) that are impacted by injury, disease or trauma, our therapists are able to target treatment and develop a customized plan to help you achieve the most rapid and complete recovery possible.

Treatment may include manual therapy (hands-on mobilization of soft tissue), modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation), gait training, therapeutic exercise (range of motion, strengthening) and other therapies that target the underlying cause of your pain and treat the effects of your injury or disease.

Injury Prevention

If you are prone to injuries or want to avoid an injury in the future, our injury prevention program can help you reach your goals.

At Fit4physio we educate you on specific ways you can avoid an injury or re-injury.  We teach you how an injury can happen and work with you to strengthen and condition your body to help you avoid specific injuries or decrease the severity of an injury, should one occur.

Our clinic offers screenings to assess your injury or injury-risk level and our skilled therapists can develop a customized plan that will help you stay healthy.

Massage

Overview of Service
Massage provides exceptional relief from pain and mental stress that does not require a doctor’s supervision, however, it is not a substitute for medical treatment. In many cases, clients are able to create a pain management program with massage that medicine alone has not been able to alleviate.

Many people claim massage does better to relieve their pain than any other treatment they have tried. So, while massage is a great complimentary therapy to other treatments, it alone can also provide substantial positive results.
